Excursions in the
surrounding area
The surrounding area
Estepona, which only lies 10km north, is known for its picturesque old town and a marina with numerous bars and restaurants. Marbella is also in close proximity, as well as other attractions such as the white villages of Andalusia and even Sevilla, Cadíz and Malaga. Malaga, the birthplace of Picasso, is a must for all culture enthusiasts. Its beautiful old town and many tapas bars has long since become a mass attraction.
The next small town on the coast is San Luis de Sabinillas (2km south), which has preserved its typical Spanish charm. Here you can find numerous bars, restaurants and supermarkets. Every Sunday one of the biggest markets in the region takes place here. Right after San Luis de Sabinillas lies Puerto de la Duquesa, a marina with promenades, restaurants and little shops. And just a short ride further south lies Sotogrande.
The small town Casares is situated only a few kilometres into inland. With its lime-white houses and close lanes winding up the mountain, it is one of the most well-known Andalusian white villages. This trip can be well combined with an excursion to Gaucín. However, the most beautiful and most famous place amongst the ‘Pueblas Blancas’ is Ronda. The “dreamt-of town” literally takes your breath away and forms a contrast to the attractions on the coast.
